The mistake was on the part of the magistrate. My deposition was read over to and signed by me immediately after I made it. I ang kam did not go up with me to see Sam yun. I don't know whether I was examined before Sam Yun.
I have not been told what Sam Yun said to the Magistrate about this matter. I was not asked about the two boys before the Magistrate. I did not tell the Magistrate that defendant's wife asked me to collect the money daily. I am quite sure that the first conversation took place on the 11th March. I did not meet defendant and his wife on the 9th March last at the corner of Lyndhurst Terrace, and they did not then ask me samples of silk for them.
I did not bring any samples of silk to defendant's house at 3 p.m. on the 11th March last. On the ground floor of defendant's quarters there are two rooms, a front room and another room behind it. By the back way you come into this latter room first. The door was open. As I went into the passage defendant saw me; he was in the room with the door open. It is true that defendant was in that room at 3 p.m. on the 11th March. I did not on that day and hour go into that room and show any samples of silk. Not on that day, but afterwards I did. It was sometime in the 4th moon, a few days before Dr Ayre's departure for England. The 4th moon is from the 2nd to the 30th May.
On the 11th March last, when I entered the room, defendant's wife was not in the room. It is not true that defendant's wife was in the room and not defendant. It is not true that I did not see defendant in that room on that day. It is not true that I was only in that Room on that day for 5 or 10 minutes. It is not true that the whole time I was in the room I was showing samples of silk to two English women, one of whom was defendant's wife.
The lady shown to me I have never seen before [two Burnett called in]. This lady did not say to me that she would like a sample of the blue coat I was then wearing. I was always alone when I went.
